Time To Failure Estimator
The purpose of this calculator is to allow the user to estimate time to failure following fault detection using any technology.
The application is very simple:
'D' is the chance that the equipment will start and continue to run from the point that the report is generated. The maximum value for this is 0.98 (or 98%).
MTTF is the Mean Time To Failure. This is average amount of time from the point of detection for this kind of fault to the functional failure of the component or equipment. The value must be in hours.
The Time of Interest. This is the time you are interested in calculating the chance of survival. For instance, if you are working 24/7 and the analysis is performed on Tuesday morning at 9am and you want to see the chance of survival to Saturday at 9am, that would be 24 hours times 4 days = 96 hours.
These are your inputs. The chance of survival by time of interest is the chance the equipment will survive that time as a percent. The column on the right represents the chance of survival at points out to 1.5 the MTTF.
