The Full Story
When you look at successful industries, companies, and
countri es,
what are the primary things that stand out? One of the first things is
strength, then pride, and then thinking in the long-term. What is one of the
primary things that killed the Roman Empire? It wasn’t strength as they had the
most advanced and powerful fighting force in their time, it wasn’t pride – Roman
pride is still admired today, over 1500 years since the fall of their empire.
It was changing how they thought in the long term.

The Full Story
A friend and I were having a
deep discussion during a long walk the other day. The topic started with the
subject of reliability, maintenance, and science fiction and fiction. I believe
that I had said something along the concept that if Star Trek, Battlestar
Galactica, Dr. Who,
or Star Wars worlds had applied RCM, or some of our other maintenance
strategies, the stories wouldn’t have been nearly as exciting.
We also decided, or I decided,
that greatest sci-fi/fiction maintenance hero and knowledge worker is Dr. Who.
But, that is just my opinion. However, he is still the ultimate Reactive
Maintenance Specialist!
